Help us pray for…

Prayer Request - July 12, 2026

Lord, as we celebrate this milestone in our history, help us remember that the country was founded on Christian principles.  Help us remember that these principles are the backbone of our government and its laws.  Let us remember that these freedoms, enjoyed by so many today, did not come without a cost; a very high cost for many.  Help us remember that this nation was founded under God and that You are a necessary part of everything we do!  Help us return to that mindset before it is too late.

Lord, let us also remember the price You paid for our freedom from the sin that enslaves us so terribly easy.  You reminded us that ‘greater love hath no man than he lay down his life for a friend’.  You call us friends and You laid down Your life for us.  Many times, we think the Pharisees were the “bad” guys and the Romans took Your life.  Let us understand, and remember, that no one took Your life, You GAVE it for us.  It was God’s plan, and Your obedience to that plan, which freed us from sin.  This freedom also did not come without a cost, a very high cost to You and God, your father.  But LOVE paid the price so that we could be free.  And all You ask in return is for us to love and trust You.

Lord, help us to return to the basics of community.  Individualism and hyper-individualism are not the way the church needs to function.  We are to be a community of believers, united in the faith in the one true God.  We are to be different than the world around us.  Help us to build our community of faith to model the ancient church of Smyrna.  Help us to withstand the pressures from the culture to conform to it.  Help us instead to be a beacon of love that draws them in for You.

Lord, help us remember to guard our times of prayer, Bible Study (personal), time with You, worship, and Your ministries and not let them be displaced with less important, but seemingly urgent things.  Everything is less important than spending time with You.  Help us get our priorities right, You and Your kingdom first, the duties of this life last.  Let us jealously guard our time with You each day and never neglect our relationship with You.  Let us remember that You are not only our King, but our best friend, and we can talk with You and spend time with You, as we would with our earthly best friend.  So that when we face hardships, we can do so with complete and total confidence that You are there to help us, provide for us, strengthen us, and “carry” us (if needed).  Help us rely not on our human logic or reason abilities, but to see You with our hearts in faith and trust.

As we celebrate this milestone of history, pray for our country and its leaders.  Pray the people will again recognize God’s hand in our history and acknowledge that without His guidance, society spirals downward quickly.  Pray our leaders will heed God's guidance and return to be servants of God and the people.  Pray also the rhetoric thrown around so easily will start focusing on people and practicality and not just be divisive and derogatory.

As always, please continue to pray for our military men and women past and present, and for all the first responders, especially our law enforcement officers who have paid a high price to keep this country free for us to enjoyPray God will be with each of them, that He will protect them and provide for them and that He will give them His peace and comfort.  Pray also for their families and loved ones as they endure the uncertainty of their world and cope with the challenges they face daily.
