Rev. Dr. John Messer

As 2025 came to a close, the decision was made to invite a transitional pastor to take the leadership role for Cortaro Vista.  We are fortunate to have John Messer filling that role.  John is currently retired (although now that would be semi-retired) and resides in Southern Arizona.  

John has extensive experience in transistional leadership for churches.  He led the re-evaluation, refocusing and restructuring process for 130 churches.  He has created training for leaders for church revitalization and equipping for organizations and led that training.  He has had over 30 years of ministry experience as a pastor and as an executive leader within the R.C.A.

John also served as a military officer managing large projects and equally large budgets.  He commanded and led several organizations of various sizes from 60 to 200 people.  He has a strong background in strategic planning and leadership as well as coaching and mentoring, which he has also successfully used throughout his years of ministry.

He is working with the congregation and the search team to prepare the way for the next pastor and leader of Cortaro Vista Community Church.
